Basketball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

Canton has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 59-52 to the Highland Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Cougars are ranked 496th).

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Highland, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-10 record.

While Canton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
