Recap: McAlester Buffaloes vs. Durant Lions
The McAlester Buffaloes fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Durant 56-14 at home. The result was nothing new for McAlester, who have now won three matches by 30 points or more so far this season.
McAlester had a senior duo take command as Ethan Watkins rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries and Caden Lesnau threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Drayton Pouncil, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
McAlester's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Durant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McAlester will take on Sapulpa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Sapulpa is ranked 48th, while McAlester is ranked 47th). As for Durant, they will be playing at home against Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 17th.
