Baseball Recap: Vanden Takes a Loss

Vanden blew Roseville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Roseville got their revenge. The Vanden Vikings fell just short of the Roseville Tigers by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 24, 2024.

Ryan Cahalan and Jackson Armstrong put in work while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cahalan pitched six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Armstrong pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Cahalan went 2-for-3 with three RBI, while Armstrong scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three RBI gave Cahalan a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kekoa Grinton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he's hit this season.

Vanden now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Roseville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Coming up, Vanden will head out to face off against Christian Brothers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Roseville, they will host Del Oro at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
