Baseball Game Preview: Smethport Hubbers vs. Port Allegany Gators

Smethport hasn't had much luck against Port Allegany recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hubbers will look to defend their home field against the Gators at 4:30 p.m. Smethport has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Smethport came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 19-1 to Kane.

Smethport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Hungiville, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Meanwhile, Port Allegany came tearing into Wednesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by six runs or more this season.

Port Allegany's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Smethport, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
