Football Recap: Spring Hill Piles Up the Points Against Battle Creek

Spring Hill got themselves on the board against Battle Creek on Friday, but Battle Creek never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 35-0 win over the Grizzlies. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Raiders just coasted through the last quarter.

It was another big night for Lionel Brooks, who rushed for 255 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per carry. Those 255 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Kasen White helped out on the ground, rushing for 95 yards.

Spring Hill's run defense was locked in: Battle Creek could only muster 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Nathan Highland for the heroic effort on defense: he. Spring Hill didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 11.5.

Spring Hill's defense also made the game a nightmare for Colten Barba, racking up eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Gavin Jacobs and Carson Huffstutler, who racked up 6.5 sacks between them. Huffstutler is becoming a predictor of Spring Hill's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Another thorn in Battle Creek's side was Highland, who picked up 0.5 sacks, made eight total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.

Spring Hill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.3 points over those games. As for Battle Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Spring Hill will challenge Marshall County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. As for Battle Creek, they will take on Glencliff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
