Softball Recap: Nipomo Beats Santa Maria for Their Third Straight Win

Nipomo entered their tilt with Santa Maria on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 15-1 win. With that victory, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Ava Camacho and Alyssa Van Muysen were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Camacho struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Van Muysen tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Furthermore, Camacho didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. At the plate, Camacho got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI, while Van Muysen scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alie Camacho, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Roxanne McLean was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Nipomo's record now sits at 4-5. As for Santa Maria, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nipomo will host San Luis Obispo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Luis Obispo's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Nipomo's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Santa Maria, they will welcome North at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
