Football Game Preview: Chillicothe Hornets vs. Odessa Bulldogs

The Chillicothe Hornets are taking a road trip to challenge the Odessa Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Chillicothe's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Savannah on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (35-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against the Savages recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Odessa entered their tilt with Pleasant Hill on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 26-21 W against the Roosters/Chicks. The Bulldogs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Odessa's win came from a few key players Chillicothe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cole Westerhold, who rushed for 125 yards and one score. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 125 rushing yards. Jackson Whitaker also helped out with an impressive 84 receiving yards.

Odessa didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tate Heitman and William Scott.

Odessa's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Chillicothe, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Chillicothe was able to grind out a solid victory over Odessa when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 20-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
