Basketball Recap: Madrid-Waddington Gets the Win

After losing to Tupper Lake the last time they met, Madrid-Waddington decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Madrid-Waddington Yellowjackets pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over the Tupper Lake Lumberjacks on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Despite the loss, Tupper Lake still got an impressive performance from Felix Bodeewes, who went 11 for 18 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Bodeewes' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Clark, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Madrid-Waddington's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Tupper Lake, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Madrid-Waddington will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Lawrence Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 14, 2025. Tupper Lake will also get a bit of a break before their next match: they'll face off against Hermon-DeKalb Central at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Tupper Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
