Softball Recap: Treutlen's Undefeated Season over After Eight Games

Wilcox County hit Treutlen with a six-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 7-3 to the Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 13-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Ella Roberson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 11 hits.

On the hitting side, Ruthie Blair made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Rogers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Having lost for the first time this season, Treutlen fell to 7-1. As for Wilcox County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

Treutlen will welcome Putnam County at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the War Eagles at the right time seeing as the War Eagles are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Wilcox County, they will head out to challenge Cook at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 0.6 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
