Softball Recap: Ironwood Comes Up Short

Ironwood lost against Willow Canyon last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles came up short against the Wildcats, falling 14-4. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.

Madelaine Gober was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Ironwood and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Willow Canyon, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-6-1.

Coming up, Ironwood will be playing at home against Fairfax at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Stampede have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.77 runs per game on average), something the Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Willow Canyon, they are taking a road trip to square off against Alhambra at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.36 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
