Basketball Recap: Coral Reef Snaps Six-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Coral Reef was riding high fresh off their 73-34 takedown of Miami Beach last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coral Reef Barracudas fell just short of the Reagan Bison by a score of 51-49 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Barracudas can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Bison are ranked 110th).

Coral Reef's loss came despite strong showings from Corey Gellineau and Gianmarco Altare. Gellineau went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points, while Altare posted 13 points. Isaiah Charlot was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Sebastian Gonzalez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Reagan, scoring 32 points and seven boards. The contest was Gonzalez's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ronal Hodelin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds.

Coral Reef's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10. As for Reagan, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-5.

Coral Reef does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Reagan has already played their next match (against South Dade), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
