Preview: Keystone Wildcats vs. Steele Comets

The Keystone Wildcats will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Steele Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Keystone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.

Keystone unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Norwalk. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Keystone has scored all season.

Keystone's loss came about despite a quality game from Grant Hartley, who scored 20 points along with six steals. The contest was Hartley's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Nagle, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.

Keystone struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Steele pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 79-59 walloping at the hands of Berea-Midpark. While losing is never fun, Steele can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Berea-Midpark is ranked 82nd).

Keystone's record is now 4-4. Steele's record now sits at 4-2.

Keystone came up short against Steele in their previous meeting back in January, falling 55-51. Can Keystone avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
