Baseball Preview: Ohio County Eagles vs. Daviess County Panthers
The Ohio County Eagles will head out to square off against the Daviess County Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Ohio County hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
Things were looking good for Ohio County after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Muhlenberg County by a score of 3-2.
Ohio County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keaton Daugherty, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Daviess County challenged Murray on Saturday. The Panthers came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 5-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Ben Watkins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Daviess County is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise.
Ohio County's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Daviess County, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
