Basketball Recap: Bianca Torres' Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Broward over Coral Springs

South Broward was the 49-46 winner over Coral Springs when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The South Broward Bulldogs fell 51-43 to the Coral Springs Colts on Monday. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Colts 14-10 in the first quarter.

South Broward lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Bianca Torres, who posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayonna Lewis, who had 11 points.

Even though they lost, South Broward was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coral Springs only posted two assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coral Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nethania Noel-Jeune, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 18 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Noel-Jeune has scored at least a third of Coral Springs' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Smith, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 18 points.

South Broward's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Coral Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Broward will square off against Boyd Anderson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Coral Springs, they will face off against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
