Baseball Recap: Marina Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Corona del Mar, Marina was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Fountain Valley Barons by a score of 5-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jaxon Vilardi spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Marina: the team is 4-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Marina's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Hesse, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Will Baker also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Marina's win bumped their record up to 10-16. As for Fountain Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-13 record this season.

Marina will have a chance to go back-to-back against Fountain Valley: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
