Basketball Recap: River Ridge Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

River Ridge had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a blow against the East Lake Eagles on Tuesday, falling 71-39. The Royal Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-18.

Several Royal Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kolten Casarez, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. Quintin Burch was another key player, putting up eight points.

East Lake had a senior duo take command as Jordan Bryant dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten boards and Andre Willis shot 86% from the field on his way to 17 points and four steals. Bryant is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted four or more in each of the last 14 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Skylar Pinkham, who earned five points along with nine assists and five steals.

River Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 88-85 win against Hudson on the 20th. As for East Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-63 loss against IMG Academy Blue on the 21st.
