Basketball Recap: Six Straight Home Wins for Shelby

Shelby won the last time they faced Holton and things went their way on Friday too. The Shelby Tigers took down the Holton Red Devils 39-20. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Red Devils are ranked 379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Shelby's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.8 points over those games. As for Holton, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

When Shelby and Holton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Shelby will challenge Fremont and their seven-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Shelby's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Holton's offense will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, Holton will try to stop Newaygo's eight-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
