Baseball Game Preview: Wheatland Pirates vs. Colfax Falcons

For the second straight game, Wheatland will face off against Colfax. The Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wheatland will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Wheatland and Colfax, and Wheatland kept the tradition alive. The Pirates walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Falcons on Thursday.

Jaxon Becker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brodee Malecha was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

Wheatland's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for Colfax, they now have a losing record of 10-11-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wheatland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Colfax struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts.
