Volleyball Recap: Churubusco Eagles vs. Lakewood Park Christian Panthers
Churubusco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 2-0 to the Lakewood Park Christian Panthers. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
Kelsee Coil paced Churubusco's offense, picking up eight kills. Coil got some help from Mckayla Reuter and her 11 assists.
Lakewood Park Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Delaney Johnson out in front who had 11 digs. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 11 times she's played.
Churubusco's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Lakewood Park Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Coincidentally, Churubusco and Lakewood Park Christian will both be playing Fort Wayne Bishop Luers the next time they take the court. The Panthers will head out to face the Knights at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 2:30 p.m.
