Basketball Recap: Ponchatoula Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Ponchatoula can now relate to. They took a 70-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huntington Raiders. The Green Wave have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Huntington's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Turner, who posted 17 points. Those 17 points gave Turner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyler Welch, who scored 13 points and eight rebounds.

Ponchatoula's defeat dropped their record down to 25-9. As for Huntington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.

Ponchatoula does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Huntington, they will face off against St. Thomas More on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with St. Thomas More sitting on three straight wins and Huntington on six.
