Football Recap: Los Altos Conquerors vs. Upland Highlanders/Scots
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Los Altos can now relate to. They lost 42-21 to the Upland Highlanders/Scots on Friday. The loss was the Conquerors' first of the season.
Several Conquerors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was DIEGO CASTILLO, who threw for 218 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 38 yards. Los Altos' leading receiver JOSIAH CORTEZ was CASTILLO's top target yet again, picking up 119 receiving yards and one score.
Upland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lequand (Jack Jack) Jackson, who threw for 181 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 48 yards and one TD. Those three passing touchdowns gave (Jack Jack) Jackson a new career-high. Upland's leading receiver Jerome Smith (Spanky) was (Jack Jack) Jackson's top target yet again, picking up 109 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Having lost for the first time this season, Los Altos fell to 10-1. As for Upland, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
Los Altos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Upland, they will take on St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
