Preview: Tolar Rattlers vs. Marlin Bulldogs
The Tolar Rattlers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Marlin Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on November 30th. One thing working in Tolar's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten contests.
With a playoff game on the line, Tolar rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-28 victory over the Gladiators on the road. The result was nothing new for Tolar, who have now won 12 contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
Tolar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Brown led the charge by rushing for 73 yards and three touchdowns. Garrison Nation also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Marlin came tearing into Friday's match with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Tioga on the road to the tune of 46-14. Marlin might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won six contests by 29 points or more this season.
Marlin's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mario Hopwood, who rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns. I'aire Kee was another major influence, as he rushed for 92 yards and ran in a TD.
Their wins bumped Tolar to 12-1 and Italy to 7-6.
Everything came up roses for Tolar against Marlin in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-18 win. Will Tolar repeat their success, or does Marlin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
