Baseball Recap: Berthoud Takes a Loss

Berthoud dropped their record down to 6-8 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Roosevelt Roughriders by a score of 2-1. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Roughriders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Berthoud saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Lettieri, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double was Lettieri's first of the season.

As for Roosevelt, their record is now 10-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 30, 2024.

On Roosevelt's side, Israel Castillo made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Castillo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Jeremiah Bradberry was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

While Berthoud had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
