Basketball Game Preview: Claiborne Academy Rebels vs. Mt. Salus Christian Eagles

The Claiborne Academy Rebels will face off against the Mt. Salus Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Claiborne Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 66-33 victory over Tensas Academy. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Claiborne Academy can attribute much of their success to Reagan Feazell, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Garrett Adams, who posted 19 points and four steals. That's the most points Adams has posted since back in December of 2024. Dylan Buckner was another key player, putting up four points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Mt. Salus Christian's good fortune finally ran out last Tuesday. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tensas Academy. Even if the Eagles couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Claiborne Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Mt. Salus Christian, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
