Football Game Preview: Norristown Eagles vs. Perkiomen Valley Vikings

Norristown is 0-8 against Perkiomen Valley since October of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Norristown will be strutting in after a victory while Perkiomen Valley will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Norristown turned things around against Methacton on Friday. They walked away with an 18-6 win over the Warriors.

The critical scores for Norristown came from Joseph Melonson and Isaiah Jackson.

One reason for the win was Norristown's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Xavier Blackwell was especially locked on to Methacton's QB and sacked him twice. Norristown received some extra help from Jackson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Perkiomen Valley and Spring-Ford, and Spring-Ford kept the tradition alive. The Vikings took a 30-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams on Friday. Despite 168 more yards than the Rams, the Vikings couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Norristown will have to contain Colin Sturges as he made an impact in Perkiomen Valley's last game. He rushed for 146 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also picked up 87 receiving yards and one score. Sturges really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Norristown's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Perkiomen Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Things could have been worse for Norristown, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 27-12 loss to Perkiomen Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
