Baseball Game Preview: Brevard HEAT Firehawks vs. Titusville Terriers

The Brevard HEAT Firehawks will venture away from home to take on the Titusville Terriers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Brevard HEAT didn't have quite enough to beat Palm Bay and fell 5-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Firehawks in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Matthew Treskovich Jr put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Braden Harmon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one double. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Brycen Harmon, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Titusville came up short against Merritt Island on Tuesday, falling 15-6.

Nolan Edwards was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

Titusville's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Brevard HEAT, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10.

Brevard HEAT couldn't quite get it done against Titusville in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can Brevard HEAT avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
