Recap: Gibbs Eagles vs. South-Doyle Cherokees
The Gibbs Eagles came into Friday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against South-Doyle by a score of 59-51 on Friday. For Gibbs, this counts as revenge for the 61-46 defeat South-Doyle walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.
Gibbs was led to victory by Kamen Shown and Zack Turner. Shown scored 21 points along with seven rebounds, while Turner dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 assists. Another player making a difference was Jayden Rutherford, who scored seven points.
Gibbs pushed their record up to 12-15 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for South-Doyle, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-10.
