Basketball Game Preview: Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks vs. Sahuarita Mustangs

The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks will square off against the Sahuarita Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ironwood Ridge beat Marana 47-41. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

It was another big night for Molly Walter, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 20 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Serenity Hampton was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six boards and three steals.

Ironwood Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Sahuarita was able to grind out a solid victory over Rio Rico on Tuesday, taking the game 38-31. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Sahuarita's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-14. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points over those games. As for Ironwood Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 11-16.
