Basketball Recap: Morro Bay Takes a Loss

Morro Bay played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Santa Ynez Pirates, falling 69-43. Morro Bay hasn't had much luck with Santa Ynez recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Santa Ynez was led to victory by Lucas Ollenburger and Jude Pritchard. Ollenburger dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Pritchard went 7 for 14 on his way to 21 points and seven boards. The match was Pritchard's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gael Villalobos, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Morro Bay's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-16. As for Santa Ynez, they pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Morro Bay will be playing at home against Righetti at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Righetti knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Morro Bay likes a good challenge. As for Santa Ynez, they are taking a road trip to square off against Cabrillo at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
