Baseball Recap: Windham Takes a Loss

Windham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 11-4 to the Wheeler Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 back in April.

Windham had to settle for second despite strong performances on the mound from Kamryn Beebe and Carter Rau Beebe tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit, while Rau pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Lucas Aillon Pomo and Alex Diaz-Guillen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Aillon Pomo went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Diaz-Guillen went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one triple. That triple was Diaz-Guillen's first of the season.

Windham's record now sits at 1-13. As for Wheeler, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Coming up, Windham will be playing in front of their home fans against Windham RVT at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mighty Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.5 runs per game on average), something the Whippets will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Wheeler, they will head out to square off against Lyman Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.14 runs per game on average), something the Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
