Baseball Recap: Berkley Comes Up Short

After flying high against Farmington on Wednesday, Berkley came back down to earth. The Bears fell just short of the Bloomfield Hills Black Hawks by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Black Hawks earlier this season, when they won 8-2.

Spencer Bajcz and Nick Campbell did some serious damage despite the final result: Bajcz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Campbell went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Bajcz is becoming a predictor of Berkley's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 6-12 when he doesn't). Kyle Gabriel was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Berkley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Bloomfield Hills, their record is now 14-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Berkley will host St. Clair at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bloomfield Hills, they will take on Farmington at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Black Hawks are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
