Baseball Recap: Deming Wins Going Away Against Valencia

Deming got themselves on the board against Valencia on Friday, but Valencia never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Jaguars. Considering the Wildcats have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Estevan Mariscal made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Mariscal was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Isaac Martinez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Chris Olvera also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Deming always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Deming is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Valencia, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Deming will host Da Vinci at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Valencia, they will be playing at home against St. Pius X at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sartans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight.
