Football Game Preview: Stone Tomcats vs. Sumrall Bobcats + Official Tickets

Stone is a perfect 3-0 against Sumrall since October of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Tomcats will host the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Stone is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

On Thursday, Stone strolled past East Central with points to spare, taking the game 35-21. The Tomcats pushed the score to 35-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hornets cut but never quite recovered from.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Amarion Fairley and Ayden Green. Fairley rushed for 118 yards and two scores on only 13 carries while Green gained 109 total yards and two touchdowns. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Fairley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zander Howard, who rushed for 59 yards.

Stone was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

One reason for the win was Stone's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Colton Ladner was especially locked on to East Central's QB and sacked him twice. Ladner has been hot recently, having also posted eight or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Sumrall duked it out with North Pike on Thursday. The Bobcats came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 24-17.

Stone's record now sits at 7-3. As for Sumrall, their record is now 7-4.

Everything came up roses for Stone against Sumrall when the teams last played back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 41-6 victory. In that matchup, the Tomcats amassed a halftime lead of 20-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
