Basketball Recap: Addie Curless' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Martinsville over Bloomington South

If Martinsville was feeling good fresh off their 65-42 takedown of Greenwood last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Martinsville Artesians lost 63-37 to the Bloomington South Panthers on Tuesday. The Artesians haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Several Artesians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addie Curless, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Mallery, who put up four points and six rebounds.

Martinsville's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Bloomington South, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.

Martinsville will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Whiteland at 1:30 p.m. Martinsville is facing Whiteland at the right time seeing as Whiteland is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Bloomington South, they are taking a road trip to take on Center Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Center Grove will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Bloomington South surely won't give up without a fight.
