Baseball Game Preview: Woodson Cavaliers vs. West Potomac Wolverines

The Woodson Cavaliers will venture away from home to square off against the West Potomac Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Woodson is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Centreville just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

Meanwhile, West Potomac didn't have quite enough to beat Alexandria City on Friday and fell 9-7. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Titans recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Barrett Baker was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of West Potomac's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Max Melzer also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Woodson's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for West Potomac, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Woodson couldn't quite get it done against West Potomac in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-2. Can the Cavaliers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
