Soccer Game Preview: Poway vs. San Pasqual

Poway hasn't had much luck against San Pasqual recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Poway Titans will face off against the San Pasqual Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poway is headed into the contest without a loss and will look to keep things rolling. They won by a goal and slipped past Montgomery 2-1. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Aztecs are ranked 893rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Gavin Rose and Ryan Cokkinis scored both of Poway's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Meanwhile, San Pasqual waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Pointers onto the board and left with a 4-0 win. Considering the Golden Eagles have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Poway has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-0-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight games. As for San Pasqual, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Poway suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to San Pasqual when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Poway avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
