Football Recap: Lucas Barb and Keelyn Eichelberger Lead the Defense for Tucker County Win

Tucker County was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against the East Hardy Cougars by a score of 38-27. The win continues a trend for the Mountain Lions in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Samuel Marks had an outrageously good game as he threw for 296 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 65 yards and one score on only eight carries. Those 65 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Tucker County's leading receiver Lucas Barb was Marks' top target yet again, picking up 151 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Tucker County's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. The heavy lifting was done by Barb and Keelyn Eichelberger, who racked up five sacks between them.

Tucker County's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for East Hardy, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Tucker County will challenge Frankfort at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mountain Lions will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for East Hardy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Southern at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
