Eastside hasn't had much luck against Highland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eastside Lions will face off against the Highland Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m.

Eastside is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Antelope Valley on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Eastside was dealt a 61-7 defeat at the hands of Antelope Valley. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Highland entered their tilt with Littlerock on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Lobos onto the board and left with a 74-0 win. That 74 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Highland's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jayden Carrillo and Jamarieh Hector, who racked up all seven sacks between them. With that strong performance, Hector is now averaging an impressive 6.3 total tackles per game. Mekhi Free was another major factor on D, making a tackle and defending a pass in addition to snagging three interceptions.

Eastside's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Highland, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Eastside was taken down by Highland 58-8 in their previous meeting back in September of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Eastside was down 37-0.
