The Blackford Bruins will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Hill Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Blackford has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Oak Hill will arrive with five straight victories.
Blackford lost 13-5 to Madison-Grant on Tuesday.
Clayton Heflin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Trenton Norton, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Oak Hill never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Elwood as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Golden Eagles have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emmett Dorothy looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Oak Hill got a big performance out of Matthew O'Banion, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave O'Banion a new career-high. Trenner Boswell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Oak Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Blackford's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Oak Hill, their record now sits at 11-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Blackford has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oak Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Blackford's way against Oak Hill in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Blackford made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
