Preview: Whitwell vs. Sale Creek
If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Whitwell. They will square off against Sale Creek at 7:00 PM on Friday. Whitwell are coming into the matchup hot, having won nine in a row.
Whitwell put the finishing touches on their 8th blowout victory of the season last Friday. They took the match and then some with a 59-20 win over Cannon County. No one put up better numbers for Whitwell than senior Warner Ashworth, who brought his A game into the match. He passed for 279 yards and 4 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Ashworth's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past nine games.
Meanwhile, things haven't been easy for Sale Creek, and their contest last Friday only extended their streak of losses to four. They took a serious blow against Wartburg Central, falling 19-55.
Whitwell were fully in charge the last time the two teams met, breezing past Sale Creek 69-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whitwell since the team won't have home-field advantage. Watch the game and check back on MaxPreps to see if the change in venue makes a difference.
