Blue Valley Southwest quarterback led state in passing en route to Class 5A semifinal appearance.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Dylan Dunn of Blue Valley Southwest (Overland Park) is the 2023 MaxPreps Kansas High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound senior quarterback led the Timberwolves to a 10-2 record and the Class 5A semifinals.

Dunn led the state in passing with 3,777 yards and 47 touchdown passes against five interceptions while completing 73.1 percent of his attempts. He threw for 300 yards or more eight times and had multiple TD passes in all 12 games.

Thanks in part to Dunn's efforts, Blue Valley Southwest averaged 47 points per game and scored at least 28 in every contest.

In a 48-47 loss against Mill Valley (Shawnee) in the semifinals, Dunn completed 33 of 48 passes for 490 yards and five touchdowns.

According to 247Sports, Dunn has interest from several FBS programs including BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska and Utah.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
