Softball Game Preview: Falkville Blue Devils vs. Grissom Tigers

The Falkville Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Grissom Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Falkville is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Falkville came up short against Decatur Heritage Christian Academy and fell 9-5.

Hannah Summerford was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Melody Sims, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Summerford wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Falkville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for Falkville: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.

Meanwhile, Grissom hadn't done well against James Clemens recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Grissom put the hurt on James Clemens with a sharp 10-3 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Falkville's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-9. As for Grissom, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.

Falkville might still be hurting after the 19-3 defeat they got from Grissom when the teams last played on March 3rd. Can Falkville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
