The Warhill Lions will face off against the Woodside Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Warhill's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against York as Warhill made off with a 10-0 victory. The win was just business as usual for the Lions, who after three games remain undefeated this season.
Not much got past Skyler Wilson, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep York off the board.

On the hitting side, Payton Auerbach - GMU and Mallory Herspold did most of the damage at the plate: Auerbach - GMU scored four runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Herspold went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Auerbach - GMU is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keamani Fujimoto, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Woodside). They put the hurt on Phoebus with a sharp 24-7 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolverines.
Woodside let Jaena Antonia Kay and Kaymen Strothers run wild. Kay got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, seven RBI, and four runs, while Strothers went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave Strothers a new career-high. Dakaja Hopkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Woodside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .653. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Warhill's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Woodside, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Warhill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Woodside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Warhill's way against Woodside when the teams last played back in March of 2023, as Warhill made off with a 17-0 win. Does Warhill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
