Football Recap: Independence 76ers vs. St. Charles Cardinals
Independence suffered their biggest loss since September 15, 2023 on Friday. They lost 38-14 to the St. Charles Cardinals. The defeat continues a trend for the 76ers in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now lost three in a row.
Independence's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Antonio Weaver, who rushed for 57 yards on only six carries, and also caught a touchdown. Weaver got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 57 yards. Omega Waller also helped out with an impressive 107 receiving yards.
Independence now has a losing record at 1-2. As for St. Charles, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Independence will face off against Eastmoor Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Charles, they will stay at home for another week and welcome Dublin Coffman at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
