Basketball Recap: Harrisville Falls Short of Potsdam in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Harrisville couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Potsdam Sandstoners on Tuesday, falling 61-35. The matchup marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Potsdam found their leader in sophomore Ian VanWagner, who went 10-for-17 en route to 23 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brodie Delaney, who posted 18 points.

The defeat snapped Harrisville's winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 18-6 record. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points over those games. As for Potsdam, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Harrisville and Potsdam are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Harrisville will challenge Bolton Central at 6:00 p.m. on March 12th. As for Potsdam, they will take on Franklin Academy at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Academy will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Potsdam surely won't give up without a fight.
