Basketball Game Preview: Cedar Springs Red Hawks vs. Big Rapids Cardinals

The Cedar Springs Red Hawks will take on the Big Rapids Cardinals in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cedar Springs is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Catholic Central just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 53-30. The loss was the Red Hawks' first of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Big Rapids). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Tri County Area 58-24. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Vikings are ranked 70th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cedar Springs fell to 3-1. As for Big Rapids, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Cedar Springs was able to grind out a solid win over Big Rapids in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 42-30. Does Cedar Springs have another victory up their sleeve, or will Big Rapids turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
