Basketball Recap: Wayne Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Dezirae Thomas and Nariya Goddard

Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-45 heartbreaker at the hands of the Beavercreek Beavers. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Beavers earlier this season, when they won 50-37.

Nariya Goddard and Dezirae Thomas certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Goddard went 5 for 12 en route to 10 points and five boards, while Thomas posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amiel Jones, who put up seven points.

Wayne now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Beavercreek, the win got them back to even at 9-9.

Wayne has already played their next match (against Trotwood-Madison), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Beavercreek has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Fairmont.
