Basketball Game Preview: South Point Pointers vs. Green Bobcats

The South Point Pointers will head out on the road to square off against the Green Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South Point has struggled recently with six losses in a row, while Green will arrive with three straight wins.

South Point is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Ironton on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Pointers were beaten by the Fighting Tigers 65-32. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 502nd, while the Fighting Tigers are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Green took on Clay on Friday. The Bobcats enjoyed a cozy 70-54 victory over the Panthers.

South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Green, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Everything came up roses for South Point against Green in their previous matchup back in January of 2025, as the squad secured a 59-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pointers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
