Recap: Westwood Panthers vs. Franklin Lions
After a string of four wins, the Westwood Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 72-53 fall against Franklin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Westwood came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Franklin is ranked 717th).
Despite the loss, Westwood still got an impressive performance from Kavian Bryant, who scored 36 points along with six rebounds. Shannon Jackson was another key contributor, scoring two points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Westwood's loss dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Franklin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Westwood will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Teague at 6:15 p.m. Westwood is coming into the contest with five straight losses at home, meaning Teague will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Franklin, they will head out on the road to challenge Mexia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mexia is coming into the match with ten straight victories at home, so Franklin is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
