Volleyball Game Preview: Homer-Center Wildcats vs. United Lions

Homer-Center has gone a perfect 10-0 against United recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will host the Lions at 6:00 p.m. United took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Homer-Center, who comes in off a win.

Cambria Heights came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Homer-Center, but Ashlyn Yount wouldn't allow it. The Wildcats narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Highlanders 3-2 with plenty of help from Yount, who had nine digs and six aces. Yount is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

Homer-Center wouldn't go down easily and took Cambria Heights into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 15-8.

Meanwhile, United lost 3-0 to Penns Manor on Thursday. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Penns Manor scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-20, 25-20.

The win made it two in a row for Homer-Center and bumps their season record up to 7-9. As for United, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13-1.

Homer-Center skirted past United 1-0 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
